The Many Faces of Abs of Steel
Abs of Steel is the name of an abdominal exercise video series, which are presented by a variety of different presenters. Although some focus exclusively on abdominal exercise, others add aerobic activity, upper body and butt work.
Tamilee Webb
If you’ve ever attended a professional fitness conference, you might have seen a presentation by Tamilee Webb. If you did, you know that she’s the real thing. Back in the 1990s, Tamilee Webb starred in the Abs of Steel Workout videos, which provided a no-nonsense, no-gimmick approach to abdominal exercise. She boasts a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education and a Master of Arts degree in Exercise Science, which were both completed at California State University, Chico. Although the original Abs of Steel Videos was produced in VHS, they have been digitally re-mastered into DVD format.
The Abs of Steel Tamilee Webb Workout Video Number One
Abs of Steel One was the first in the video series. It contains three, 10-minute abdominal exercise programs, which are designed to be performed on different days of the week. Although there have been some complaints about the production quality of the tape, the exercise routines are solid and well developed.
The Abs of Steel Tamilee Webb Workout Video Number Two
The Abs of Steel Two video consists of two 15-minute abdominal workouts, which also incorporate push-ups. While this may seem odd, it’s your core deep muscles that keep your back from arching while performing push-ups so it’s actually a good idea. The abdominal workouts on this tape are more challenging, and thus may not be suitable for beginners.
The Abs of Steel Tamilee Webb Workout Video Number Three
Tamilee’s third abdominal workout video has three abdominal workouts. Each segment features a warm-up. Once gain, these workouts are challenging, and might not be suitable for beginners.
Donna Richardson and Tracie York
Donna Richardson is another popular fitness conference presenter. In 2006, she was appointed to serve on the Council for Physical Fitness and Sports. Tracy York is also a fitness presenter, who works at the Sports Club LA. Both of these ladies join Tamilee Webb on the Abs of Steel 2000 Series.
Abs of Steel 2000 Series
For the first segment of the Abs of Steel 2000 series, Tracy York, Donna Richardson and Tamilee Webb conduct an aerobic workout, which consists of a series of easy to follow moves. Although most of the movements are low impact, there are a few jumps thrown in. The aerobic workout is followed by an abdominal toning workout. The video ends with a stretching session.
Leisa Hart
Although Leisa Hart is also a certified fitness instructor her claim to fame is her position as Host of the Direct Buy infomercial. She is featured in Abs of Steel Volume 3.
Abs of Steel with Leisa Hart
Abs of Steel with Lisa Hart features one 15 minute beginner workout, a 15 minute intermediate workout, and the 5 minute bonus crunch workout. The production quality of this video is superior to its predecessors. The bonus crunch is designed to be a quick but challenging workout.
Bottom Line
All of the Abs of Steel Videos follow the principles of solid exercise science. There is only one significant issue. Eventually, you may get tired of the music, which can be rather annoying. However, after awhile, you will probably memorize the exercises, so you will not need the video.
